An impressive and highly decorative set of four life-size carved marble figures representing the allegorical Four seasons, executed in the classical European tradition and dating to the late 20th Century. Each figure is beautifully composed, with finely carved drapery and well-observed naturalistic detail, embodying the enduring elegance and symbolism associated with classical sculpture. The figures were originally acquired in France for a Manor House in Bath, England where they were installed as part of a considered architectural and decorative scheme. Their provenance and scale lend them a strong sense of presence, making them equally suited to formal interiors, garden settings or courtyard installations. Each sculpture is raised on a substantial square marble base measuring approximately 50cm in height, width and depth providing both visual balance and structural solidity. The uniformity of the bases reinforces the integrity of the set, allowing the four figures to read as a cohesive and harmonious ensemble.
